You May Be Entitled to Compensation From Your Employer

On 21 August 2019, the Federal Court of Australia ruled that workers taking a day of sick leave should be paid for the number of hours they would do on a regular day of work.

This means if you work a 12-hour regular day, you should receive 12 hours of pay when you take a day of sick leave. Before this decision was made the industry standard was that workers should only receive 7.6 hours of pay on a day of sick leave.
