Great news for poultry workers with Manilla chicken farms set to go ahead

The AMIEU’s Newcastle & Northern Branch welcomes the news that Baiada Poultry’s application to build 70 broiler chicken sheds in Manilla has been approved.

The flow-on-effects of this massive poultry plant will be felt across the meat processing industry, with more jobs created for poultry workers all across Northern NSW, and $250 million planned in regional investment by Baiada across the next five years.

Baiada’s 70 broiler sheds will house almost three million birds once at full capacity, creating 1,350 jobs at the immediate site and more further down the line.

We look forward to continuing our strong representation of Baiada workers in Tamworth and urge Baiada to offer nationally recognised training to locals in their new operations in this area.
