Pay rise delayed again at Thomas Foods as company withdraws application

Thomas Foods Tamworth has pulled the agreement that workers just voted on, and will need to start the whole thing from scratch.

The company failed to follow correct procedures and withdrew their application at the Fair Work Commission on December 3.

This means TFI Tamworth workers will now need to go back to bargaining and there will not be a sign-on bonus as promised.

The AMIEU warned Thomas Foods over and over again that their agreement would be rejected by the Fair Work Commission, and indeed it was – before it had even been tested.

We told workers that Thomas Foods was wasting their time, and that they were better off staying in bargaining and trying to get a real outcome that delivered a real result.

This latest event means there will be even more delays in getting these workers the wage rises they need.

The only way to get a good deal is by joining the AMIEU. New data shows that union workers earn an average of 23% more than non-union workers across Australia!
