Bindaree Beef meat workers stopped work today for the first time in 18 years to pursue a 3% wage increase and defend public holiday entitlements.
The company has offered a 0.2% wage increase which equates to just 4 cents an hour or $1.54 a week for the lowest paid. This company is enjoying record production compliments of the drought but is not prepared to share the wealth with its workforce.
We congratulate all meat workers who exercised their rights today and thank all those supporters who have sent messages and other community members who attended the Campbell Park rally.
The Union will keep all posted on how negotiations develop in the future.
