Protect yourself and your family with the AMIEU Newcastle & Northern’s Emergency Transport Benefit, available exclusively to Branch members. You’ll be covered for any emergency road transportation to a hospital if you’re injured, meaning you’re not out of pocket when life takes a turn for the worse.
But this benefit isn’t just for you — it also covers your spouse and any of your children up to the age of 18. Give yourself peace of mind knowing that if something happens to your spouse or family when you’re out of the house, all the ambulance costs will be taken care of.
On top of that, you can also apply (call the office to ask for an application form) to have this benefit cover any students or children up to the age of 25 who are not receiving a taxable income.
How much extra will this cost me?
Nothing! This service comes included in your AMIEU Newcastle & Northern membership. You do not need to pay anything extra to access this service. It activates as soon as you become a paying member of the union.
Is the benefit limited to work hours only?
No! This benefit applies 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 52 weeks a year. You are always covered as long as you remain a paying member of the union.
How do I claim the benefit?
Simply ring the union office or email us and ask for a benefit application form. Contact details are at the bottom of this page.
Does this include a death benefit?
No. In the unfortunate occurrence of death, this benefit is not claimable. Your superannuation fund may be able to assist you in this matter.
Does this include emergency transport by air ambulance (like the Westpac Emergency Chopper)?
No. The benefit only covers emergency transport by road to the nearest hospital.
Is there anything else I need to know?
Yes. All payments are subject to the approval of the Union Committee of Management. Payments will continue for such a time as the Union Committee of Management deems appropriate. All decisions made by the Union Committee of Management are final.
